The University of Dayton has a tradition of including adult learners in its community. Adult learners can strengthen skills and expand horizons beyond the classroom.Senior Fellows is a program for free audit tuition for persons 60 and over. It has been joined by a summer Elderhostel program, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD (UDLLI) and the New Horizons Band.

The Lifelong Learning Institute of Ohio Wesleyan University recognizes that learning throughout one’s life is an important pursuit in acquiring knowledge and skills, examining new ideas and fueling one’s curiosity among many other benefits. Ohio Wesleyan promotes and provides, in collaboration with other community organizations, a variety of educational programs using peer learning concepts, to benefit intellectually curious older adults.
LLI courses are non-credit-bearing and are offered in a collaborative, inclusive style to encourage participation, peer learning, and engagement with the material.

Ohio’s Aspire programs provide FREE services for individuals who need assistance acquiring the skills to be successful in post-secondary education and training, and employment. Local programs offer classes at flexible locations, and on different days and times to meet diverse needs. All students are required to attend orientation, where an assessment is given to help determine the individual’s educational needs and goals.

Citizen Academies
Dublin residents are invited to get an inside look at the dedicated effort it takes to maintain Dublin’s world-class services, entrepreneurial spirit and outstanding quality of life with Citizen U. Participants age 18 and over will learn about all aspects of the City of Dublin’s operations in this immersive experience, now in its fifth year.

This 12-week program gives participants insight into the profession of law enforcement and the operations of the Dublin Police Department. Topics during the academy sessions will focus on typical policing activities and include areas such as: arrest process, search and seizure, traffic stops, and a firearms live-shooting experience.

Ever wonder what it’s like to be a Washington Township firefighter/paramedic? Here’s your chance to take a behind-the-scenes look. This six-session, hands-on, firefighter-led academy guarantees adventure, fun and a chance to feel what it’s like to operate the “jaws of life,” use a charged fire hose on a live fire, rappel from our four-story training tower, and work with EMS training equipment, just to name a few of the experiences you’ll encounter.

In a large and dynamic school district such as Dublin City Schools, it can be difficult for parents to learn about all of the different academic and extracurricular opportunities available for their students. The goal of establishing a Dublin City Schools Parent University is to provide a vehicle that increases awareness regarding all of the programs the District has to offer, as well as some of the challenges and opportunities facing public education.
